A Lazy Sequence

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the web is how effectively browser technology can be bent to produce content that goes against the grain of platform. The most obvious example is of course single page web applications, and the most impressive – and bananas – has to be asm.js. At the other end of the spectrum is the trend the last few years of making shiny brochureware sites that act like powerpoint or keynote presentations, weirdly coupled to the browsers scrollbar. Shiny, awkward to use, and just a staggering waste of effort to build. Can we please go back to just creating nice pages?
