A prelude
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
The Rebel Alliance has won its second major victory against the evil Galactic Empire. The Imperial Death Star has been destroyed in orbit around Yavin minutes before it was able to fire upon the moon housing the Rebel Alliance’s no longer secret head quarters.
Amidst their celebration the Rebels face the grim realisation that an Imperial fleet will soon be on its way to finish what the Death Star failed to do. Knowing their fledgling fleet could not stand up to a full scale attack the Rebel’s have no choice but to ship out.
Many heroes of the rebellion lost their lives in the attack on the Death Star, opening the way for new heroes to rise through the ranks. Two young recruits are among the last to leave Yavin, piloting a small shuttle to the backwater planet Capell 2 to rendezvous with a small rebel cell there.
The Capell colony is a small town located on an alpine plateau. As the shuttle nears the space port they are caught with a glancing blow by an imperial surface to air cannon. After crash landing a short distance from town they duck outside to assess the situation. Only moments after disembarking the sound of armored foot falls is heard and both characters quick duck away from the ship into the relative safety of the woods.
Two storm troopers appear, one heads inside while the other maintains a guard, he quickly spots Redd in the woods and calls for him to come out with his hands up. Levv â still hidden from view â quietly pulls out his blaster rifle and opens fire on the unsuspecting trooper. He responds in kind by shooting at Reddwho reels back from the blast before Levv can take him out. The second trooper has responded to the gunfire and jumps down from the hatchway and takes cover behind the ship and begins to trade shots with the heros.
Levv heads behind the ship and Redd in front of it, dividing the troopers attention. He manages to get a couple of good shots in before going down. The bodies are quickly dragged away, some vital gear is taken from the ship and they dash off through the woods to the town.
Not long after they arrive in town, and trying miserably to glean some information about the rebel cell from cantina owner that their contact provides them with the location and a route to get there. Unbeknownst to them, they have been overheard by imperial informants.
They make their way to the cell’s safe-house. They meet with the three rebels, who tell them that the characters are there to pick up the rebels and get them off the planet. However, they will first need to free a Bothan rebel spy from the local jail.
The characters figure out that they’re also going to have to buy parts for their ship and destroy the gun emplacement, and with these objectives in mind the characters decide to get some rest.
The second session begins with the characters being hurriedly woken; the Imperials have discovered the safehouse and are about to move in. The rebels head out the front door, and Levv and Redd head out the back door.
They poke their heads out, and Levv spots a shadow moving in the darkness of the alleyway. They bust out of the doorway, and Redd provides suppressing fire from his cover while Levv fires and makes for cover of his own. A few shots are traded, but when our heroes hear footsteps from the other direction they decide it’s time to scarper.
They hear blaster fire and a cry; later they discover that the Rodian member of the rebel cell has been killed in the escape. Shortly afterwards, the safe house explodesâthe rebels had set a timed charge as they escaped.
A hectic dash down alleyways and backstreets leads them to a main road, and they think they’ve gotten away with it until they bump into a Stormtrooper coming the other way. Redd’s nonchalance doesn’t fool anyone, so Levv and Redd take cover behind a shop awning. They injure the Stormtrooper enough to make a getaway, and make their way to the spaceport, to rendezvous with the other rebels and find parts for their ship.
Levv spends most of his credits on dodgy second-hand power coils, which the three rebels offer to take out and hide near the crashed ship. They suggest Levv and Redd bust their colleague out of jail, then meet them near the gun emplacement on the edge of town.
The characters then walk to the jail. They use one of their explosive charges to blow a hole in the side wall, allowing a couple of prisoners to escape, and manage to persuade the jailer to drop his gun and hand over the keys. They release the rest of the prisoners, send them out the whole in the wall, then take the Bothan rebel out the front door with them. A narrow escape from another Stormtrooper or two sees them outside the city, and an hour or so later they have made it to the gun emplacement.
Levv sneaks up on the single guard at the emplacement, and kills him with a single shot. They push the body out of the way, and plant the second explosive charge on the cable box for the gun emplacement’s power supply. They set a timer for five minutes, and head back out into the forest.
They bump into the other rebels coming the other wayâfortunate, really; they’d forgotten the arranged rendezvous, and it would have been embarrassing to blow up their only allies. They head back towards the ship, taking a slightly roundabout route in case of Imperial troops.
They head to the rocky outcrop behind the ship, where the power coils are hidden, and spy out the land. They see, guarding the ship, three Stormtroopersâone of them a heavy trooper.
With their allies providing suppressing fire, Redd and Levv circle around opposite sides of the ship and surprise the Stormtroopers. The two light troopers are killed without getting a shot off, but the heavy trooper manages to hit Redd. Redd fires back, wounding the trooper, and Levv fires from the other side of the ship and finishes the trooper for good.
The other rebels pull the new parts to the ship, and while Levv stands guard Redd makes the necessary repairs. He starts the ship, and everyone scrambles on board just as a group of Imperial soldiers bursts from the trees and starts firing. The ship takes off low over the trees, then climbs into orbit, and from there to hyperspace, and the adventure is concluded.
