DRM

Ostensibly ‘Digital Rights Management’ - hardware and software systems that restrict how you can use music, movies and software that you’ve bought.

What does DRM actually stand for?

  • Digital Restriction Management
  • Don’t Replay Music
  • Draconian Restrictive Measures
  • Done Raping Music
  • Doesn’t Reward Musicians
  • Dis-Respectin’ (tha) Market
  • Dam’ Right, Mothafockaz!
  • Disc Ruining Methods
  • Download Revolution Motivator!
  • Digital Consumer Enablement
  • The Pineapple
  • Diminishing Recoupment of Moneys
  • Dumbarse Recording Management

(the good ones are Fraser’s, while mattw doesn’t understand the concept of acronyms ^_^)

If your new CD won’t play on your computer, it’s probably DRM.

If you imported into iTunes, but one song on the CD is hugely skippy or half missing, it’s probably DRM.

If you find a root-kit (hacker tool) installed on your computer, and it’s from Sony, it’s definitely DRM.
