Tunings

Feel free to discuss any different guitar tunings you use here.

  • Stephen has written songs using various tunings, including EADGBE (standard), DADGBE, DADGBD, DADGAD, DADF♯AD, DGDGBD and EABEBE. He recently had a go on a very cool guitar tuned to DADDDD, which was very entertaining, but requires the guitar to be specifically set up for it. Luke Hurley {the owner of the guitar Stephen played} also uses a 12 string tuned to this tuning, among many other guitars.

  • mattw quite likes DADF♯AD (slide guitar tuning). Also, EAC♯ABE (I think; could be wrong about this one.)

  • scott almost exclusively uses DADGB♯E.

  • brehaut is a simpleton and can only handle EADGBE

  • Greg is a purist and can only handle EADGBE

  • Jim is a hack and can only rock out with EADGBE and DADGBE, which he calls normal, and drop D respectively. Anything else is pretentious and just plain excessive.
