Fusion Food RIP 2007-2008
A new place- located on church corner near the grower’s market- whose jovial proprietors concoct tasty and non-greasy oriental food, and proudly show off their ‘international award’. Seem genuinely passionate about their food and have some quite original dishes.
Recommended:
- SE Asian fried rice
- Lamb kebab wrap
- Chicken stir fry with cashews (lots of cashews)
- Chicken|Beef|Pork|Vegetarian egg roll- kinda like an asian omelete, only ~$4
Alas, a ‘business for sale’ sign has appeared in the window of this fine establishment, and the owners are nowhere to be seen. Second hand rumours have it they’re moving to Australia, bloody Aussies stealing more of our goodness! – greg
Foo San (‘Bountiful Mountain’) Teahouse
Located next to the “V” Dairy on Roundtree street where it meets Ilam road; excellent value for money and very tasty south-Chinese food. Often busy but always prompt.
Mediterranean Taste
Located on Church Corner (Yaldhurst Rd). They do really good souvlakis etc. I think the owners are Egyptian?

Dimitri’s, Colombo Street
Really good Greek souvlaki- quite a different flavour from Mediterranean taste. At least as good, possibly better, but that probably comes down to personal preference.
Hamilton
Zeal
Just south of the Rostrever and Victoria st interesections an open early till 3pm weekdays. Good coffee, cool staff and a range of food, a lot of it gluten free.
Jaipur Walla
Located just down from from Zeal. Really good Indian resturant with cheap tasty lunch options. Around 11$ for a small curry, rice and naan bread. Only open for lunchs in the later half of the week.
Baan Thai Cuisine
Also near the Rostrever and Victoria st interesection.
