Grand Unified Donut Model of Christian Stupidity
The Hole
Actual core of christianity, stuff that is properly important. This is the faith aspect, God, Jesus, Grace, the Gospel etc etc.
Inside Doughy Bits
Random crap made up by churches, denominations and theologians over the last two thousand years. You could point to the catholic church here, and act haughty and superior, but you don't have any room to move either. The Purpose Driven Life anyone?
Religious activity for the sake of religion.
Outside doughy bits
Christian culture - Everything from WWJD (Its moved beyond what it was intended to be, now its just a odd fashion thing) to the north island 'GOD clothing'.
Full of fat and dough, this is basically whatever christian fashions and fads that are moving round.
Notes
People Looking at christianity from the outside see mostly the dough, perhaps being distracted briefly by the sugary cinnamon coating, and only glance briefly at the absence of any middle. By the time the interested party has reached the center to understand that its actually the best part of the donut, they are bloated with fatty crap!
Its worth noting that many things start firmly near the center and somehow creep towards the outside (eg WWJD). Apathy and complacency eating away at good intentions leaving only the husk behind.
Disclaimer: Levels of grandness and unity are mostly fabricated.

Err, this comes across to me as saying that there is nothing to the core of christianity (ie, it's not there). And that if christianity is like a donut, it is all "fatty crap". Maybe you could explain the hole theory a bit more?
Brehaut
Well, its a model of christian stupidity, rather than christianity, so having an empty core would imply that there is very little stupidity in the important parts of christianity, where as the stuff that has been bolted on over time is rather full of it.
Is that clearer?

Fair enough
